Project Description

The Rotary Park Painting and Maintenance Project is a community service initiative of the club aimed at preserving, beautifying, and maintaining Rotary Park as a safe, attractive, and sustainable public space for the community. During the club meeting, members discussed the preparation of an annual maintenance plan for the park and reviewed areas that require repair, maintenance, and improvement. Following the President's request, members agreed to visit and assess the park to identify practical actions that can be implemented. The primary focus of the project is the painting of park structures and facilities, along with the regular maintenance of equipment, infrastructure, and surrounding areas to ensure the park remains clean, functional, and welcoming for visitors.
During the discussion, the Chair of the Committee highlighted the need to maintain the park's existing equipment and facilities and suggested installing an information board describing the history and initiation of Rotary Park. Rtn. Ananda shared that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) regarding the management and maintenance of the park exists and should be located and reviewed before proceeding with further improvements. Rtn. Karna emphasized that all renovation and maintenance activities should be carried out in accordance with the provisions of the MoU and recommended a detailed site inspection to determine what improvements can be physically implemented. Members also discussed suitable plantation and landscaping options to enhance the park's environment and sustainability.
The project is currently in the planning and preparation phase and is expected to move into implementation soon. To ensure long-term sustainability, Rtn. Sabitri proposed organizing quarterly meetings and maintenance programs at the park involving Rotary, Rotaract, and Interact members, including cleaning, painting, gardening, and beautification activities. The project has secured a budget of Rs. 59,000 through generous contributions from club members, including Rs. 5,000 each from Rtn. Lal B. Chand, Rtn. Deepa Bhattarai, Rtn. Sarad Ranjit, and Rtn. Madan Malekhu; Rs. 7,000 each from Rtn. Sarad Naupane and Rtn. Pabina Thapa; and a paint contribution worth Rs. 20,000 from Rtn. Sabitri Pokharel. Through collective effort, proper planning, and active implementation, the Rotary Park Painting and Maintenance Project aims to create a lasting positive impact while preserving Rotary Park as a valuable community asset for future generations.
